The10th annual Emerald Coast Walk for Life will take place Saturday March 7 at Seville Square, 301 S. Alcaniz St. in Pensacola at 11:00 AM. Our featured national speaker is Alison Centofante. The walk through downtown Pensacola follows to witness for life. We encourageyou to wear your favorite pro-life shirt; homemade signs with a positive message are welcomed. We also have an indoor venue as backup if the park is unusable because of weather. All information is on the Emerald Coast Coalition for Life website.
Last year we expected a permanent state march to occur annually in Tallahassee and somewhat reluctantly decided to discontinue our regional Walk for Life. However, the feedback has been in favor of continuing our event. We decided to move it away from January when there are so many such events across the country that it makes it more difficult to contract national speakers. I believe all our speakers in the past were also attending events connected to the national March for Life and were either traveling to D.C. or coming from there depending on our dates. Moving it to March also gives us the hope of better weather.
What we need now is your help in getting this information to your pro-life friends and colleagues, your churches or synagogue. We’d love to have our greatest turnout ever. Plan to come to this inspirational event and bring family and friends. As in the past, the youth group with the greatest attendance carries the banner leading the walk. Also, we rely on donations to make this and our other work possible.
ECCFL continues to offer Sidewalk Advocates for Life training to any group requesting it. We are the only SAFL training location in all of NW Florida; the next closest is Gainesville and there are none in Alabama. The information provided is useful in any setting. We may meet a woman in an unplanned pregnancy in need anywhere. Abortion doesn’t end with the closing of a nearby facility. It’s easy to drive to Tallahassee or get the abortion pills by mail. So knowing the best practices for speaking to women or the family and knowing the resources available is crucial. Currently we have 5 pregnancy resource centers in the area that offer free ultrasound so the mother can see her baby. They accompany the Mom through and beyond her pregnancy, refer to other help agencies or networks and offer needed baby items.
The Florida legislative session is in progress so I invite you to go to the
floridahouse.gov and floridasenate.gov websites to see the proposed bills.
We appreciate everyone who helps us advance our mission. We want to make abortion unthinkable. That can happen when the mothers we meet know they are cared for and can receive help if needed from local, regional or national resources. We’ve seen the happy mothers who once were seeking abortion welcome their babies.
Your actions matter. When a baby’s life is saved and a mother is saved from a lifetime of regret, you’ve changed the world. The founder of Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat for post-abortive healing once stated that women as old as 90 were attending the retreats. That tells us that women never forget their babies.
If you’d like to help us by donating go to the Emerald Coast Coalition for Life website. One of our faithful donors has given $10 a month for years. She and others share in our efforts and anything we may accomplish.
God bless,
